Caerphilly RFC are pleased to announce the appointment of Jared Lougher as Director of Rugby.

Former Caerphilly RFC  stalwart Jared Lougher is returning to the club as Director of Rugby.

The former forward is returning to his home town club where it all started for him as a junior. Lougher will be responsible for all Rugby at the club from First XV to the Mini and Junior pathway. In his role at the club he will shape the long term vision and goals for rugby at Caerphilly RFC, while also supporting the development of future Dragons Regional players.

Lougher joins Caerphilly with a wealth of coaching and playing experience. He has spent the last 9 seasons at Rhiwbina RFC, as part of the coaching team that orchestrated the clubs development from Division 5 to Division 1 East. Prior to this Lougher was at Pontypool RFC as Forwards coach from 2007-2009. Lougher has also coached the Dragons Amateur XV and Caerphilly Academy U17's and U21's.

Chairman Gareth Ashman commented:- We are delighted Jared has chosen to come home. Jared will bring a wealth of experience and provide a fantastic fit for the club in terms of what we want to achieve. Jared will  head up all rugby in the role as Director of Rugby and will also coach the 1st Team next season. In his role he will develop the next generation of players and coaches while putting the right structures in place for the long term sustainability of rugby at the club.

Lougher said:- I am really excited about my return to Caerphilly RFC and taking up this new role where it all started for me as a Junior player. This role brings a new and exciting challenge for me personally: coming back home to where I originally started, as both a player and a coach, is a great opportunity.  I look forward to working with the club to develop the players and coaches, and lead Caerphilly into the vibrant community club that players and supporters are proud to be part of.
