Caerphilly V Whiteheads

Cae 48-17 Whiteheads

Cae under 16s are having their best season since the days of tag rugby and parental shouts of “go forward”.    But could we keep this current good form up against an always strong Whiteheads team?

As luck would have it, as soon as we have a squad of 15, we play a team short on numbers, so have boys on the bench…..

First Half: Cae 31-10 Whiteheads

The boys were really impressive today, at it from the start.  Tom is in sensational form at the moment, with a jink and a burst of pace he’s through and under the posts. He converts himself.

Amy thought of a runaway victory is soon dismissed though,  as Whiteheads score two quick tries, firstly, after we try an ambitious cross-field kick from our own line, they turn us over and score in the corner and then from the kick off they put the ball through the hands and out pace us to score in the corner.

Like a team of Tiggers though, we soon bounce back.  Kai cuts in incisively from the wing, beating two defenders and racing in for a lovely try.

Next up, Kody sprinkles a bit of magic dust on the game, throwing a dummy that sends most of the whiteheads team the wrong way like a team of Wile E. Coyetes going off a cliff, then he glides nonchalantly under the posts..Kody converts his own try.

Just before half time Little Ry picks up the ball on his own line and heads off, he gets over the half way line and is about to be tackled when he sees his mucker Tom on the inside,  Ry chips the ball beautifully into Toms path and he kicks it on himself twice before touching down, great try!

Second Half:  Cae 48-17 Whiteheads

Whiteheads are a strong team, they competed vigorously in the first half and strike first in the second, another lovely move through their excellent backs, sees them score in the corner to cut the gap.

Zak is starting to dominate the game now and he scores two excellent quick-fire tries,  he either leaves defenders in his wake through pace or bounces them off with his strength, he’s a real handful either way.

The scoring is rounded off by Rhodri Mawr, who runs from inside his own half, he’s like Lemuel Gulliver in Lilliput as defenders try vainly to take him down , cracking score!

Man of the Match

Was Louis for a great all round match, strong running combined with excellent tackling and a work rate that never dropped.  Onwards and Upwards.
