Jayden Riley runs'em ragged

 Jayden Riley runs'em ragged!

Around 480 AD one of King Brychans daughters was murdered by marauding invaders.  Her name was Tydfil and she was much admired for her work supporting the sick and injured of South Wales.  The place where Saint Tydfil was killed and martyred took her name, Martyr Tydfil or Merthyr Tydfil as we know it better nowadays.

First half:  Cae 15-25 Merthyr

Once again we had the obligatory disastrous start today, maybe next week we should tell the boys that we are going to play the second half first and see how that goes....
Merthyr scored straight from the kick off and proceeded to dominate the next ten minutes, quickly racing into a 20 point lead.
As ever though, the boys responded by tweaking the nose of adversity, completely indifferent to the scoreboard the lads fought back hard, led by Jayden who won scrums against the head, turnovers at ruck time and generally covered every blade of grass.
Little Ry got a try back with a blistering run and before Merthyr knew what had had hit them the lightening pace of Kai was used to full effect to scorch past the defence and score an excellent second.
Little Ry then showcased all his skills with a brilliant jinking  run to score his second before Merthyr rounded off the scoring with their fifth try of the half.

Second half: Cae 25-30 Merthyr

Cae dominated this second half but ultimately fell short due to some crucial knock ons and penalties conceded.
Merthyr scored the first try of the half but were on the back foot from then on.
Tom ran from his own half dummying, side stepping and sprinting his way over for a brilliant solo try before Kody scored in the corner to round off an excellent game for him both in defence and attack.
As the final whistle approached Cae pounded away at the line but couldn't clinch that equalising try they deserved.
All in all this was an excellent performance and the team showed great character to come back from that early 0-20 deficit.

Man of the match

Was Jayden for an excellent all round performance, he was superb in the scrums and just as good in the loose, a well deserved accolade for an excellent player and a lovely lad. When asked what he put his brilliant performance down to he replied " I dedicate this performance to all the volunteers of St John Cymru Wales, they are fantastic and I hope my Dad remembers the good work they do whenever new phones are needed" wise words indeed.....
