U13's Book Their Place at Finals Day!

Caerphilly U13's made the short journey to Ystrad Mynach this morning to compete in the 'Dragon's Cup' qualifiers at the fabulous Centre Of Excellence.

After the draw had been made, some may have conceeded defeat without a ball being Kicked. We had been paired up against Whiteheads and last year's defending Champions Croesyceiliog. Both Teams had already left Virginia Park with two points from our Home fixtures earlier in the year and the boys would certainly have their work cut out.

With parents from other clubs labelling it as 'The Group Of Death'. the boys had one option, beat them both or we we're going out!

Straight from the first whistle it was clear that 'The Green Army' had no intention of rolling over, as the forwards went straight at it turning over at the first breakdown. A super Team performance saw Caerphilly race in two well worked tries, with Huw Ashman and Ellis Hughes going over. (10-0 win)

Game 2 saw us matched against current Cup Champions Croesyceiliog RFC, who in turn had also claimed victory in the first round - it was make or break! The message was clear, win and we go through to Final's day, lose and we go home with nothing. An un-forced error in midfield saw Caerphilly get off to the worse possible start, as we gifted them their first try. The troops rallied together and forced the Croesy pack into some penalty trouble, excellent work by our front 3 saw plenty of turnovers come our way. The hard work up front soon paid off as the gaps started to open and our backs took the opportunites that came their way. Try scorers were Connor Mayho, Ioan Hill, Ellis Hughes and conversion from Lewis Adams. (17-5 win).

Excellent performance from the Team today in two very keenly contested games, good luck to Whiteheads and Croesyceiliog for the remiander of your Season.

Final's Day here we come!
