Caerphilly 1stXV defeated Oakdale today at the Contructaquote Stadium by 36 points to 22, a great win in a game that could have gone either way witha quarter of the match remaining. Outside half Matthew Hurley completed a club record of 108 points in the first 5 games of the season, a feat not even acheived by the current coach and great Caerphilly player Brett Davey. In fact Brett is convinced that it is a feat that his club partner Neil Jenkins failed to acheive also. Hurley added 26 points in today's game giving him an average of 21.6 points a game and having added a further 2 tries toady, he also averaging 1.2 try's a game. Other results in the division has helped Caerphilly into a clear 3rd place as both league leader and second place suffered their first defeats of the season. Top placed Chepstow going down 12-17 at home to the only undefeated side in the league Hartridge, and of course Oakdale suffering a bonus point defeat at our own hands. Blackwood Stars 18 Monmouth 5, Chepstow 12 Hartridge 17, Llanhilleth 7 Fleur des Lys 34, New Tredegar 22 RTB Ebbw Vale 23 & Newport HSOB 22 Usk 17. The second team travelled to Abercwmboi where they completed a well earned 32-10 victory, whilst the Youth team were just pipped at the post agasint unbeaten Rumney by 20-13. Tries bu Jacob McCarthy and Lewys Willacot was added to with a penalty from Liam Waters.
