'Cae U13's Rampant On The Wern'

Caerphilly U13's returned to league action this morning, as we made the short journey up the A470 to take on Merthyr RFC. The Wern Sports field looked stunning in the early morning winter sunshine and the conditions were perfect for some running rugby. The facility just outside the town of Merthyr is first class and will no doubt provide the local youngsters with a great opportunity to get involved in the game we love.

The boys started slowly and were un-recognisable from the squad who had qualified for 'The Dragons Cup' finals day last weekend, where was that team? The huge Merthyr pack took full advantage and went straight on the attack, like a wounded animal Cae seemed to roll over and allow the home side to race to a 14-0 lead.

This team never says die and quickly re-grouped to start playing their own game. With the power from Merthyr up-front, our pack were very smart and started to slow them down and allow our backs to do some running. This simple but effective plan worked a treat, we start to dominate and were turning balls over. The play was now quick which suited us perfectly, their defence could not live with our backs and "The Green N Whites" ran in six unanswered tries!

A super performance from the whole team today, no heads dropped after conceding two early tries and the running game delivered in the second half was fantastic.

Great win boys - Da iawn!
