'13's Hold On To Edge Derby Decider'

A solid 1st half performance from the U13's helped push Caerphilly past Bedwas 14-5 on a freezing and rainy Sunday morning at Virginia Park.

Callum Morris gave Caerphilly a first-half lead, crashing over the white-wash after some excellent phases from his fellow forwards deep in the Bedwas half. Our second try came from flying winger Josh Morkot, the green and whites put the ball through the hands and put josh away who finished an excellent play in the corner. Both tries were converted well by the ever reliable boot of Will Haley.

While it wasn't Caerphilly's best performance of the year, it was the type of grind-it-out display necessary to get the win, as the conditions in the borough made for tough sledding. Bedwas brought a big and powerful pack and this caused us an uncommon problem in the scrum, working hard at every set play to disrupt us. The hard work and determination from our visitors paid off, as they ran in a deserved try in the 2nd half which was the final action of the game.

A great game of junior rugby, credit to both teams who delivered a spectacle irrespective of the awful conditions.
